Surpergirl Pro is all about female empowerment
The largest female surfing event in the World – July 27 through July 29, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m, Oceanside California
Every July, the who’s who of women’s surfing head over to California for one of the most exciting surfing events – The Paul Mitchell Supergirl Pro. A World Qualifying Series (QS) event giving the winner 6,000 points towards their dream of qualifying for the Championship Tour (CT), it attracts both girls on the QS and those on the CT.
This year, for the 12th event at Oceanside Pier in Oceanside, California, is no exception. All-star competitor list will head to the event including six-time world champion Stephanie Gilmore, three-time world champion Carissa Moore, #1 ranked Lakey Peterson, and defending champ Courtney Conlogue. More than 100 other pros will also be there to fight for the points!
“This contest is extremely important in the qualification process for next year’s WCT,” said Jessi Miley-Dyer, WSL Women’s Tour Manager. “The event is an amazing combination of the best surfers on the planet with many of the newer faces just beginning their pro journey. That’s just one of the things that makes this all-women’s contest so unique within competitive surfing.”
2017 Supergirl Pro Highlights
“All of the women are so excited about this event,” said Sage Erickson, one of the world’s top surfers and a two-time Supergirl Pro champion. “It’s so awesome to have a contest like this in the U.S. that focuses entirely on women’s surfing. The whole festival around the event gets bigger each year, and the crowds are huge. It’s amazing to see how many incredible things are going on at the event beyond women’s surfing that all speak to the female empowerment theme. It’s my favorite event of the year!”
Doing it for the girls
In addition to the best surfing in the world, the event features an action-packed Festival Village with 20 live concerts, the only female-driven multi-title esports tournament in the U.S., an all-female DJ contest, a women’s skateboarding competition, fitness and dance classes, art, yoga, speakers, autographs, hair styling, a Celebrity Surf Invitational, 40 vendor booths, and many other activities.
The event will run daily from July 27 through July 29, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Access to the surfing, concerts, esports, classes and all elements are free to attend.
