Meet high-performance surf coach Gee Cormack
Gee Cormack is not only a world-class surf coach, but she is also a woman you want to spend time with. That’s why we’ve invited her to coach on our Still Stoked all-women’s Mentawais boat trip this Oct. We’re THRILLED she said yes!
Now a mum to two beautiful girls, Gee Cormack grew up on Sydney’s Northern Beaches. After a career standing sideways snowboarding, she moved to Bali where she spent many, many years surfing near-perfect waves… and it shows.
A powerful and technically excellent surfer, Gee is a pleasure to watch and a dream to learn from. She has a crystal clear way of explaining things that doesn’t intimidate or overwhelm you. Through her work building Chix Surf School from scratch, mindful of the way that women like to learn and how we respond to both the ocean and instruction, she has developed her own proprietary methods to teaching surf progression, for women, by women.
7 Questions with high-performance surf coach Gee Cormack
Gee and I became instant friends. She got me straight away. With a shared background in professional snowboarding, I didn’t have to explain my biggest challenge in transitioning from the snow to the water, she knew all about my worst surf habit – that dreaded my poo-stance, duck-angled back foot! She at one point, also had to work through the same bad habit! She instilled in me the confidence that I could also work through the all-important snowboarder to surfer weight shift.
